| 2000 Holden Commodore VT Coupe - Golden (AUTOart) 1/18 Diecast Model Car At the Sydney International Motor Show on October 15, 1998, Holden took the wraps off a striking two door sports coupe that is based on the same platform as the Australian VT Commodore. Intended as a Design and Marketing study, the car was described as an exploration of a Commordore-based Coupe design theme and was utilized by Holden market researchers to gauge consumer attitudes and preferences. The Coupe is appreciably lower (by 78mm) than the VT Commodore sedan and in profile shows off accentuated body curves, a raked roofline, extended door and elongated glass areas. With a stylishly abbreviated tail, the Coupe is 99mm shorter than the Commodore sedan. The seating configuration is a generous two plus two. It shares the Sedan underbody, cockpit and wheelbase, features 18 inch, five-spoked wheels, a high performance braking system, and is powered by a Holden Gen. III 5.7 litre V8.At the Coupe's unveiling, Michael Simcoe, Executive-In-Charge of Design said that the Holden designers who initiated the project had been passionately committed to creating a dynamic new profile from the established VT Commodore platform. "It was a labour of love, and much of the labour was done purely in people's own time," he said. "This team was responsible for creating the VT design; they knew there was a Coupe in there just waiting to get out. It's the essence of what was in their minds when they produced the original VT sketches, a car with exaggerated lines and fast-flowing surfaces."Although the Coupe represented a Design study, the Holden Design Team stress that they had no intention to create a concept car. It represents a pure, very deliverable design that utilised existing tooling and is producible. In 1999, another Coupe was built, this time in a striking Mustard Metallic color. Far from being a "show car," this was the next step in the evolution towards a production model. The decision has been made to produce the Coupe, and interest created by the initial showing in 1998 and all of the subsequent publicity will ensure it is one of the most eagerly awaited Holden models ever released! This model is a Limited Edition 1 of 8,004. Auto Art No. 73432 - Actual size L:23.0cm W:9.7cm H:6.7cm 2000 Holden Commodore VT Coupe - Golden (AUTOart) 1/18 Diecast Model Car
