| 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 - Calypso Coral Red (Welly) 1/18 Diecast Model Car
It was the muscle car era. Power and speed were "in". Ford answered the call with the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. With this sleek, sporty offering Ford was giving the car-buying public what it wanted and giving the competition a run for its money in SCCA racing. The 302's inspired look was courtesy of Ford designer Larry Shinoda. Only 1,628 of these Mustangs were sold in 1969. That year the 402 came in four colors: Bright Yellow, Calypso Coral, Wimbeldon White, and Acapulco Blue. The hood, rear deck, tail panel and outer headlight cavities were all painted flat black, completing the car's distictive appearance. This car had a 290 hp. 302 ci. engine, wide tires and four-speed transmission, but it hailed as a solid-handling machine. Car & Driver said in its June, 1969 issue: "Without a doubt, the Boss 302 is the best handling Ford to ever come out of Dearborn." It came with front and rear spoilers standard.
